October 2025: Standing Up to Bullying and Human Trafficking Together

A Message from iMA Sports Novi

Every October, we join a movement bigger than martial arts. October is both Bully Awareness Month and Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and at iMA Sports Novi, we believe our mission goes beyond teaching punches and kicks — it’s about protecting, empowering, and inspiring confidence in our community.

This month, we’re proud to stand up for those who can’t always stand up for themselves. Whether it’s a child facing bullying at school or a survivor rebuilding their strength, empowerment begins with awareness — and grows through action.

❤️ Training for a Cause

Throughout October 2025, iMA Sports Novi is supporting the fight against human trafficking through our partnership with Love Runs — an incredible nonprofit dedicated to ending human trafficking and supporting survivors.

Here’s how it works:
💥 Any woman signing up for classes in October receives 50% off the registration fee, and
💖 The remaining 50% will be donated directly to Love Runs to support survivors’ healing, education, and reintegration.

By joining our Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programs, you’re not just training for fitness or self-defense — you’re joining a movement that saves lives.

🥋 Building Bullyproof Kids: The iMA Way

Bullying is one of the most common — and most preventable — challenges children face. At iMA Sports Novi, our Bullyproof System equips kids with real-life confidence and emotional strength through martial arts training.

We teach students to handle conflict calmly and courageously through our 5 Rules of Engagement:

The 5 Rules of Engagement

  1. Avoid the fight at all cost.

    • True strength begins with emotional control.

  2. If physically attacked, defend yourself.

    • Protect yourself safely and effectively.

  3. If verbally attacked, follow the 3 T-steps: Talk, Tell, Tackle.

    • Use words first, seek help second, take action last.

  4. Never punch or kick the bully — establish control and negotiate.

    • Confidence is power, not aggression.

  5. When applying submissions, use minimal force and negotiate.

    • The goal isn’t to hurt, but to restore safety and respect.

These rules are reinforced in every class, helping our students walk with their chin up and their confidence strong — on and off the mats.

🌟 A Story of Confidence and Change

One of our teen students, Jake (name changed for privacy), joined our program last year shy, anxious, and unsure of himself after being bullied at school. Over time, through consistent BJJ training, encouragement from his coaches, and the support of his teammates, Jake’s confidence grew.

Now, instead of avoiding eye contact or staying silent, he stands tall, helps younger students in class, and even volunteers to demonstrate techniques. Jake’s story is one of many that remind us: when children learn discipline and self-respect, they become leaders — not victims.

🌍 Our Continued Commitment

While this campaign runs through October, our commitment to empowering our community never ends. We’ll continue our partnership with Love Runs, hosting our next Women’s Self-Defense Workshop in early 2026 to raise funds and awareness for survivors of human trafficking.

And every class — kids, teens, and adults — will continue to emphasize self-respect, courage, and community support.
